10 Hour Understanding the Layers of Trauma Training 

Training Schedule:

12/2-12/3 from 9am-2pm at GoYoga Dublin (6659 Dublin Center Drive)

Throughout this 10 hour training we will use the koshas (our energetic sheaths) to explore the teacher's role in delivering trauma informed, healing focused yoga inspired practices while still following the philosophy behind these practices. This training is for yoga teachers and students of yoga who are looking to explore and learn more about the multiple layers of healing available in these practices.


Topics we will cover include:

  • The neuroscience of trauma and how the brain experiences trauma
  • The physiological response to trauma and how the body experiences trauma
  • The energetic component to inherited trauma and what it means to come back to our own energy. 
  • What kind of poses and breathwork are helpful for common traumatized populations
  • How to spot bodies that are holding trauma
  • Discussion of touch and when to use the power of touch
  • Safe language and options for creative cueing to fit to specialized populations in yoga classes
  • A discussion on keeping up inspiration for students and ourselves in the process

About Rachel

Rachel Bertner teaches healing centered yoga to special populations experiencing multiple forms of trauma. Her practices and teaching combines body healing arts with yoga, movement and meditation to help individuals who have experienced trauma reclaim a positive sensory experience with their body. For four years, she has influenced those who formerly and currently experience the justice system, human trafficking victims and individuals in recovery from substance abuse, eating disorders and diagnoses of mental illness. She is currently a trauma-informed yoga teacher in Columbus, Ohio and is a life coach to women in seeking an alternative experience with life after trauma. Rachel studied Addiction Therapy at The Ohio State University, has attended multiple yoga trainings around the country and has learned from Bessel van der Kolk, Gabor Mate and Stephen Porges. She is a trauma educator and inspirational speaker, traveling the country sharing how she found her own success in alternative recovery by practicing yoga for healing. She is the owner and lead instructor for Recovering Yoga, LLC.
